Newborn Sessions
BOOKING
Your newborn photography session should be booked during your pregnancy to guarantee availability, I am usually fully booked 2-3 months in advance so the sooner the better.
Most people book after their 25 weeks scan, although you can book earlier if you want to! I sometimes have last minute availability so please do get in touch if your baby is already here to check.

Ideally newborn photography sessions take place between 5 – 21 days after baby is born, when they are the most sleepy and relaxed. Although we can do the photos later if necessary, we will be aiming for this time to get the best results as this is usually when baby is the most settled.
​
After baby is 6 weeks old (Unless they were premature) it’s much harder to capture many of the types of photos we do in a newborn session. Therefore if your baby is here already and I’m fully booked I will advise you to come back after they are 7 months old for a sitter session.
There is a £50 session fee which is paid at the time of booking, this does not include any images as these are purchased separately.

The Session
Newborn photography sessions take place in my Exeter studio, where I have everything required for a safe and comfortable session for your family. The session is likely to last around 2-3 hours including time to feed baby when they need it and I only book one session per day to ensure that we don’t have to rush and can keep the session relaxed.
You will arrive in the morning at 10am, and for most of the session you will relax on the sofa with a cuppa and snacks and I will do all of the hard work. Before the session you will complete a questionnaire to ensure I use colours you love and stick to the styles you like to ensure the outcome is something you will really love and it will usually be a mixture of family shots and baby on their own.
During the session your baby’s safety and needs come first. All of my equipment is top of the range photography and newborn posing equipment which is safe, clean and well maintained. I constantly monitor the baby’s temperature and mood and will use my experience to adapt and deliver the session based on their needs.
If baby does not want to do one of your chosen poses, I do not force them, I simply move on or adapt the pose so that they are happy!

After The Session
I will shortlist the photos down to between 20-30 (depending how the session goes and what styles you have chosen), then I will professionally edit your gallery. One to two weeks later you will return to the studio for your ordering appointment where you will view all of the images and choose which ones you would like to select and therefore what photo package is best for you.

Once you have selected your images and bought your package, I send all of your chosen images via an online gallery in high resolution.

Any print orders will take up to 2 weeks to be delivered to your home or picked up from the studio, if you order an album then there will be an additional design and feedback stage which can take a few weeks depending on your changes.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to book a newborn shoot?
I take a very limited number of bookings per month so I always recommend booking in advance.
Most of my bookings are taken shortly after the 12 week scan.
Do I need to bring anything with me to my shoot?
I have a large selection of props, wraps, headbands and colours for both little boys and little girls. There’s no need for you to bring anything with you but I’m more than happy to incorporate your own items into the images to make them more personal if you wish.
My baby has already been born, can I still book a shoot?
Yes! I sometimes have availability for last minute inquiries in which case I can absolutely book you in!
However, due to taking limited bookings per month my diary does fill up quickly and this isn't always possible.
How soon after my baby is born will the shoot take place?
Your newborn photo shoot will take place within 21 days of your baby being born in my photography studio which is located in Marsh Barton, Exeter.
Can sibling and parent photos be included?
Yes, absolutely!
These photos are included within every package at no extra cost.
Fur babies are also welcome!
What if my baby doesn't arrive on time?
Absolutely no problem at all.
When you book in I add your due date to my diary, I then ask you to contact me within 2-3 days of your baby being born so that we can book you in for a firm date and time.
